Meier claims first AJGA title at Tartan Fields Golf Club

DUBLIN, Ohio — Ethan Tracy, 18, of Hilliard, Ohio shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 to win the Boys Division at the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament Thursday. In the Girls Division, Amy Meier, 17, of Rochester Hills, Mich., carded a 2-over-par 74 to finish at the top of the leaderboard.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament featured 99 players from 21 states and Canada. The field consisted of 75 boys and 24 girls, ages 12-18. The Boys Division played the par-72 Tartan Fields Golf Club at 6,972 yards, while the Girls Division played the course at 6,063 yards.

Tracy's ball striking remained top notch, leading to two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. This win has special significance for Tracy, who ended his AJGA career at Tartan Fields Golf Club with a tournament total of 8-under-par 208.

“This was the first AJGA event I played in four years ago, so to end my career at the event I began it at feels great,” Tracy said. “I was hitting the ball really well all day and just kept it together really well.”

Cameron Wilson of Rowayton, Conn., finished in second place with a three-round total of 1-over-par 217. David Erdy of Boonville, Ind., Justin Thomas of Goshen, Ky., and John Beringer of Loveland, Ohio finished tied for third at 4-over-par 220.

In the Girls Division, Meier played another consistent round with birdies on Nos. 2 and 10. Meier remained cool coming down the stretch, carding a 1-over-par 37 on the back nine to claim her first AJGA event victory.

“I didn't know where I stood until the last fairway,” Meier said. “I didn't want to psych myself out. I'm really happy I pulled out the win.”

Hanule Seo of St. Louis, and Allie White of Lancaster, Ohio, finished tied for second place at 9-over-par 225 after firing final-round 3-under-par 69s.
