Kiser atop Girls Division of The Club Car Junior hosted by Charles Howell III at even-par 72

EVANS, EVANS, Ga. -- Chad Bounds of Meridian, Miss., leads The Club Car Junior hosted by Charles Howell III by two shots

after shooting an 8-under-par 64 in the first round Tuesday. Victoria Kiser of Orlando, Fla., leads the Girls Division

                    after posting an even-par 72.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, The Club Car Junior hosted by Charles Howell III is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The tournament field consists of 75 boys and 23 girls, ages 12-18, from 13 states. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 7,060 yards, while the Girls Division is being played at 6,312 yards.

Bounds was practically flawless, as he registered eight birdies against no bogeys and was 18-for-18 with greens in regulation.

“I've had eight birdies in a round before and no bogeys in a round before, but never both in the same round,” Bounds said. “The fact that there were no bogeys made this round special. It's also special to do it in a big tourney.”

Will Pearson of Memphis, Tenn., sits in second at 6-under-par 66. Lee Knox of Augusta, Ga., Steven Fox of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Will Snipes of Rocky Face, Ga., are in a three-way tie for third at 4-under-par 68.

Kiser, who made five birdies and bogeys in her round, is only two weeks removed from her first career AJGA victory at The First American Title Junior Classic in Tampa, Fla.

“That has helped my confidence a lot,” Kiser said. “I've been playing really solid lately and that just makes me believe that I can win again.”

In a three-way tie for second at 3-over-par 75 are Erica Popson of Davenport, Fla., Kendall Wright of Suwanee, Ga., and Lacey Fears of Bonaire, Ga.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA, the largest Association of its kind, has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 foreign countries.

Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
