The 2007 U.S. Walker Cup team has been announced. Chris Kirk, Billy Horschel, Trip Kuehne, Colt Knost, Jamie Lovemark, Webb Simpson, Dustin Johnson and Jonathon Moore will represent the U.S. at this year's Walker Cup, which will be played Sept. 8-9 at Royal County Down in Newcastle, Ireland. The remaining two spots on the team will be picked after the U.S. Amateur, which will be held Aug. 20-26.
Jhared Hack won the Western Amateur, defeating Alex Prugh 1 up. The 17-year-old, who will play for the University of Central Florida in the fall, became the second-youngest player to win in the tournament's 105-year history.
Stephanie Sherlock won the Canadian Women's Amateur, firing a 1-over-par 289 for the tournament.
Tiger Woods captured the WGC Bridgestone Invitational by eight strokes after carding an 8-under-par 272 tournament total. It is his third consecutive victory at this tournament and sixth in eight tries.
Lorena Ochoa won the Women's British Open, her first major title. Ochoa shot a 5-under-par 287 tournament total, good for a four-stroke victory over Jee Young Lee and Maria Hjorth.
Steve Flesch captured his third PGA TOUR title, firing an even-par 72 during the final round at the Reno-Tahoe Open. His 15-under-par 273 tournament total gave him a five-stroke victory over Charles Warren and Kevin Stadler.
