Celano leads The Under Armour® / Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship after first round
Patrick leads the Girls Division by two strokes at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club

SARASOTA, Fla. — Ryan Celano of Naples, Fla., shot a 4-under-par 68 after the first round of the Under Armour® / Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship in Sarasota, Fla. In the Girls Division, Katharine Patrick of West University Place, Texas, carded a 4-under-par 68.

The Under Armour® / Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship is one of 10 events in the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series. Specifically designed for boys and girls ages 12-15, the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series presents opportunities for younger players to develop their skills and earn entry into AJGA Open tournaments. The Series concludes with the Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Invitational over Columbus Day weekend for winners and top finishers in Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series events.

Celano leads by a narrow one-stroke margin. His round included six bridies, including a near ace on the third hole.

“On No. 3, it looked like it was going in off the tee,” Celano said. “It left me with an easy 5 foot putt. Hopefully I will play just as good tomorrow.”

Tied in second place with a 3-under-par 69 are Sean Murphy of Decatur, Ga., and Bernardo Curbelo of Venezuela. In a four-way tie for fourth are Tyler McDaniel of Manchester, Ky., Sam Rosenberg of Dallas, Texas, Gustavo Morantes of Venezuela, and Wyatt Larkin of Morganton, Ga., who each finished at 2-under-par 70.

Patrick is competing in her second Junior All-Star event, having played in the Junior All-Star at Hilton Head. Finishing with six birdies, she leads by two strokes after the first round.

“I just played great today,” Patrick said. “My birdie on No. 1 started off my round well and gave me a boost.”

In second place is Taylor Tomlinson of Gainesville, Fla., with a 2-under-par 70, and in third is Angella Then of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., who carded a 1-under-par 71.
