AJGA visits Buffalo Dunes
Buffalo Dunes Golf Course, in Garden City, Kan., will host an AJGA event for the first time in 2013. Opened in 1976, Buffalo Dunes is one of the host golf courses to the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am every August. Players such as Steve Jones, Lee Janzen, Tom Weiskopf and Stewart Cink have all played at the course.
Presidents Leadership Award recipient in the field
Divya Manthena of Camarillo, Calif., is a recipient of the 2013 USGA-AJGA Presidents' Leadership Award. Manthena organized a golf tournament for the Special Olympics of Southern California (Ventura County) that raised $13,000. Manthena has also planned and executed charity golf tournaments to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Red Cross. Along with the the male recipient Patrick Cover, Manthena will accept the award at the Rolex Dinner of Champions in Lancaster, Pa. on July 10.

Top Players to Watch

Turner Maclean, Fort Worth, Texas (2015)
A high school sophomore, MacLean took home medalist honors at the Preseason Junior at Cimarron Hills in April with a score of 76-73-149.
Brock Drogosch, Windermere, Fla. (2013)
Drogosch, who has given a verbal commitment to the University of Kansas, finished in the top-10 at three AJGA events in 2012. His best finish was a tie for fourth with a score of 80-69-71-220 at the Under Armour® / Steve Marino Championship.
Thomas Winters, Marble Falls, Texas (2015)
Winters finished second to Turner MacLean in April's Preseason Junior at Cimarron Hills. Winters recorded another top-10 finish at last year's Preseason Junior at Sterling.
Courtney Dow, Frisco, Texas (2016)
The highest-ranked player in the field at No. 60 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Dow finished T5 in April's Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship. Dow, who just completed her freshman year of high school, looks to improve on a solid 2012 campaign which included three top-5 finishes and a win at the Sooner Junior All-Star.
Daniela Darquea, Quito, Ecuador (2013)
Competing in her first AJGA event of the 2013 season, Darquea, a recent high school graduate, seeks her first AJGA win before beginning her college career at the University of Miami in the fall. Darquea's past AJGA successes include a T3 finish at the 2012 AJGA Junior Open at The Legends and a T2 finish at the 2012 Genesis Junior Championship.

Media Accommodations

The AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes will have AJGA communications representatives on hand to assist media throughout the week. Prior to the tournament the AJGA will provide information about the event and its participants, as well as assist with player interviews.

After each round, media officials on-site will write a recap with the day's results. These will be emailed to all media outlets. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors may be conducted before or after tournament rounds.

About the AJGA

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 6,000 junior golfers from 49 states and more than 50 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.
