HOOBERY COMES FROM SIX BACK TO WIN AT WENATCHEE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Moon goes wire-to-wire to win the AJGA Junior at Wenatchee

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. Macgregor Hoobery of Santa Maria, Calif., took home the win in the Boys Division at the AJGA Junior at Wenatchee after posting a 5-under-par 67 to finish the tournament with a three-day total of 3-under-par 216. Seo Hee Moon of Mukilteo, Wash., held onto her first and second-round lead to take home the victory in the Girls Division.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the AJGA Junior at
Wenatchee was a 54-hole stroke play event held at Wenatchee Golf & Country Club. The tournament field featured 71 boys and 27 girls, ages 12-18, from 12 states and Canada.  The Boys Division played the par-72 course from 6,363 yards, while the Girls Division played at 5,980 yards.

Hoobery started the round six-shots behind the second-round leader Daniel Snoey of Camas, Wash.,He held nothing back during the final round. The rising junior birdied the first three holes and played level par to go out in 3-under-par 33. He then went on to record two birdies on the back nine to bring home a bogey free 5-under-par 67.

“Today I had no pressure,” Hoobery said.  “I went for every pin and I didn’t have any three putts. I knew I was in contention when I shot 33 on the front nine and saw the leaders teeing off.”

Notching second after shooting a three-day total of 2-under-par 214 was Niall Platt of Santa Barbara, Calif. Sang Gyun Lee of Calgary, Alberta, Sulman Raza of Eugene, Ore., and Mark Wyllie of San Jose, Calif., tied for third after each shot three-day totals of 1-under-par 215.

Moon started the round off slow, recording five bogeys and a birdie on the front to finish at 4-over-par 40. Confident that she could shoot even par on the back, the rising senior kept a level head and thought positively. She managed to finish the round at 3-over-par 75. The AJGA Junior at
Wenatchee marks her second AJGA victory and for Moon the victory belongs to her family.

“My dad is a huge part of my golf career,” Moon said. “He started me golfing at age three and even during the toughest times he has still supported me. I was kind of a win for both of us.”

Katrina Hegge of
Seattle, took second after she shot a three-day total of 7-over-par 223. Rounding out the top three was Morgan Thompson of Tualatin, Ore., after she shot 8-over-par 224.
