COURT CLAIMS MEDALIST HONORS AT LOCKTON KANSAS CITY JUNIOR K¹² QUALIFIER
Campbell medals in Girls Division at Dub's Dread Golf Club

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Max Court of West Des Moines, Iowa, shot an even-par 72 Sunday at the K12 Qualifier for the Lockton Kansas City Junior to claim medalist honors. Talia Campbell of Dallas, carded a 9-over-par 81 to claim the honors in the Girls Division and stamped her ticket to The National Golf Club of Kansas City.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the K12 Qualifier for the Lockton Kansas City Junior was an 18-hole stroke play event held at Dub's Dread Golf Club in Kansas City, Kan. The field featured 86 boys and 10 girls, ages 12-18, from 14 states. The Boys Division played the par-72 Dub's Dread Golf Club course at 6,828 yards, and the Girls Division played at 5,965 yards. K¹² Qualifiers give juniors an opportunity to "play their way in" to coinciding AJGA Open tournaments or earn a Tournament Exemption or Performance Star for a future event. The K¹² Qualifier Series offers opportunities for AJGA juniors at approximately 50 AJGA Open events.

Court started on No. 11 and energized his round with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 when long putts on both holes disappeared into the cup. However, he gave back both strokes when he double-bogeyed No. 18.

Court regained his composure on the traditional front nine en route to carding six pars and two birdies.

“I made a lot of pars,” Court said. “I knew I was hitting it good so I felt something would happen — I stayed patient.”

Also qualifying in the Boys Division for the Lockton Kansas City Junior were A.J. Gebert of Wichita, Kan., Hunter Lewis of Lawson, Mo., Michael Culin of Plano, Texas, Michael Fischer of Leawood, Kan., Paul Ganske of Lakeville, Minn., Braxon Ball of Auburn, Kan., John Fowlds of Lone Tree, Colo., Grant Natori of Honolulu, Mason Good of Warrensburg, Mo., Jack Fiscus of Tulsa, Okla., and Wils Hawn of Waterloo, Ill.

Boys opting to take one AJGA Tournament Exemption in lieu of playing in this week's event were Ben Dowling of Southlake, Texas, Kyle Pilgrim of Hurst, Texas and Matt Johnson of Little Rock, Ark.

In the Girls Division, Campbell fought through the adversity of her wild driver to save numerous pars from the rough.

“My drives weren't very straight today,” Campbell said. “But I was able to hit out of the rough and onto the greens to make my two putts.”

For the round, Campbell had 33 putts and made eight pars and one birdie.

Also qualifying in the Girls Division were Taylor Fagan of Topeka, Kan., Michelle Woods of Manhattan, Kan., Erin Shriver of Olathe, Kan., and Chloe Kittle of Lee's Summit, Mo.

The lone girl opting to take one AJGA Tournament Exemption in lieu of playing in this week's event was Brooke LaRue of Topeka, Kan.
