VAN DRESSER FIRES 6-UNDER-PAR TO MEDAL AT LANDMARK GOLF CLUB AT AVALON
Adams tops Girls Division to claim medalist honors at AJGA Qualifier

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — Max Van Dresser of Alpharetta, Ga., shot a 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors at the AJGA Qualifier for the AJGA Knoxville Junior Open. The Girls Division medal was won by Lindsay Adams of Lawrenceville, Ga., who shot a 10-over-par 82 at Landmark Golf Club at Avalon.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the AJGA Qualifier for the AJGA Knoxville Junior Open was an 18-hole stroke play event held at Landmark Golf Club at Avalon. The tournament field consisted of 74 boys and eight girls, ages 12-18, from 13 states and Italy. The Boys Division played the par-72 course at 6,743 yards, while the Girls Division was played at 6,065 yards.

Van Dresser's round featured one eagle, five birdies and only one bogey. He missed only one green on the day.

“My iron shots were really good today,” Van Dresser said. “I holed out on No. 13 from 130 yards to make eagle, which was exciting.”

Qualifying for the tournament were Eric Park of Chapel Hill, N.C., Patrick Leisure of Charlottesville, Va., Chris House of Raleigh, N.C., Kory Webb of Knoxville, Tenn., Daniel Pizetoski of Davidson, N.C., Jordan Jennings of Jefferson City, Tenn., Andrew Garner of Peachtree City, Ga., Adam Castro of White House, Tenn., Paul Ganske of Lakeville, Minn., Aron Zemmer of Siusi, Italy, Nick York of Kingsport, Tenn., Thomas Payne of Mills River, N.C., Matt Harman of Roanoke, Va., and Austin Kramer of Knoxville, Tenn.

Also qualifying but opting to take a Tournament Exemption were Max Van Dresser of Alpharetta, Ga., Zachary Estep of Lawrenceville, Ga., Will Evans of McDonough, Ga., Brandon Squier of Advance, N.C., Chandler Machemehl of Duluth, Ga., Michael Wallace of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Alex Cox of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Todd McDaniel of Manchester, Ky.

Adams said a key to her round was consistent and accurate driving.

“My best shot of the day though was a wedge shot on No. 15,” Adams said. “I hit it from about 90 yards to within two feet for birdie.”

Qualifying for the tournament were Caroline Prebul of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Teleri Hughes of Knoxville, Tenn., and Alexa Payne of Dandridge, Tenn.
