AJGA QUALIFIER CANCELLED AT PINE RIDGE GOLF CLUB
Performance-Based Entry fills out Lessing's AJGA Classic field
CORAM, N.Y. — Torrential downpours and continuous thunderstorms forced the American Junior Golf Association Tournament Committee to cancel the AJGA Qualifier for the Lessing's AJGA Classic Sunday. Ten boys and two girls were selected via Performance Based Entry to compete in the tournament July 28-31 at Island Hills Golf Club.
“The rain came in droves today,” said Assistant Tournament Director Adam Johnson. “The weather just would not let us get on the golf course. Hopefully Mother Nature will smile upon us for the rest of the week.”
Qualifying in the Boys Division were Dillon Corbo of Montville, N.J., Richard Sung of Closter, N.J., Christopher Williams of Washington, D.C., Adam Larkin of North Bellmore, N.Y., Dennis Driscoll of Manhasset, N.Y., Michael Carr of Sayville, N.Y., Samuel Brourman of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sean Keller of Babylon, N.Y., Max Cahn of Nyack, N.Y., and John Davies of Rye, N.Y.
Also qualifying but not playing in the tournament was Samuel Hockfield of Gladwyne, Pa.
Qualifying in the Girls Division were Harin Lee of Bayside, N.Y., and Alex Lipa of Birmingham, Mich.
All other participants who did not withdraw prior to the cancellation of the AJGA Qualifier received one performance star.
