AGIN BESTS FIELD BY THREE TO EARN PLACE IN THE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE JUNIOR PRESENTED BY THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
Potee and Proctor tie for Girls Division honors at Darby Creek Golf Course

MARYSVILLE, Ohio. — Josh Agin, 17, of Zanesville, Ohio took medalist honors in Sunday's Qualifier after carding a 4-under-par 68 to earn a spot in the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament. In the Girls Division, Meghan Potee, 16, of Noblesville, Ind., and Heather Proctor of Silver Spring, Fla., posted 4-over-par 76s to earn co-medalist honors.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the 18-hole stroke-play Qualifier featured 85 boys and 14 girls — ages 12-18 — each trying to "play their way in" to the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament or build their status within the AJGA's Performance Based Entry system. Sunday's Qualifier gave 11 boys and two girls the opportunity to play in the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament, which begins Monday, July 7.

Agin, who is choosing to play in the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament, carded two birdies and one bogey on the front nine before making birdies on Nos. 13, 14, 16, 17 and 18 to shoot 3-under-par 33 on the back nine.

“I was in a focus where I wasn't even thinking about making pars,” Agin said. “I was only thinking about making birdies.”

In addition to Agin, the following players earned a spot in the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament: Ohio natives Shane Stewart of Dublin, Sam Core of Chagrin Falls, Simran Magowan of Loveland, Nathan Kerns of Ironton, Colin Allen of Upper Arlington, Chase Wilson of Zanesville, David Tepe of Liberty Township, Jisoo Park of Dix Hills, N.Y., Jordan Pastor of Haymarket, Va., and Wes Bowman of Fishers, Ind.

In the Girls Division, Potee hit good shots, but struggled with her putting.

“I was sticking everything within 15 feet, but I just couldn't make any putts,” Potee said.

Proctor, who chose to take a tournament exemption in lieu of playing in the Nationwide Insurance Junior presented by the Memorial Tournament, credited her good play to consistency off the tee.

“I drove the ball really well today,” Proctor said. “I hit 14 fairways and 12 greens, so everything was pretty solid.”

Breanna Patz, 17, of Plainfield, Ind., will be joining Potee in the field after posting a 6-over-par 78
