HAK LEADS THE FIRST AMERICAN TITLE JUNIOR CLASSIC AT 1-UNDER-PAR
Jensen and Kiser tied at even-par for Girls Division top spot at Avila Golf & Country Club

TAMPA, Fla. — Shun Yat Hak of Lake Mary, Fla., leads the Boys Division at 1-under-par 143 in the First American Title Junior Classic. Evan Jensen of Belleair, Fla., and Victoria Kiser of Orlando, Fla., are tied at even-par 144 for first place in the Girls Division Wednesday.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the First American Title Junior Classic is a 54-hole stroke play event being played at Avila Golf & Country Club. The tournament field consists of 54 boys and 24 girls, ages 12-18, from 10 states and China. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,853 yards, while the Girls Division is being played at 6,114 yards.

Hak, who was in a three-way tie for the lead after the first round, made two birdies and two bogeys in the second round to shoot even-par 72. He had several good up-and-downs out of bunkers to help him maintain par.

“I struggled with my irons today,” Hak said. “However, my third shot on the par-5 No. 4 was within 10 feet of the hole and I was able to make birdie.”

Tied for second at even-par 144 are Chase Marinell of Cape Coral, Fla., and George Letson of Tampa, Fla. Max McKay of St. Augustine, Fla., Carson Weinand of Naples, Fla., and Zachery Sobel of Clearwater Beach, Fla., are tied for fourth at 1-over-par 145.

Jensen, who is competing in her final AJGA event before enrolling at the University of Florida, is tied for the lead despite closing with bogeys on two of her last three holes. She made four birdies on her way to a 2-under-par 70.

“My iron shots were really on today, I hit 15 greens,” Jensen said. “I just need to keep it steady and do the same thing tomorrow.”

Kiser closed her round of 3-under-par 69 with three birdies on her last nine holes and only missed two greens on the day.

“My approach shots were strong today,” Kiser said. “I am just going to play my game and have fun tomorrow. I have been playing really well and hope to come out on the top.”

Catherine O'Donnell of Ponte Vedra, Fla., is in third at 1-over-par 145.
