MCINROE TAKES TOP HONORS AT ALDILA JUNIOR AT OAK TREE QUALIFIER
Park earns medalist honors in Girls Division at Oak Tree Country Club

EDMOND, Okla. β€” Trevor McInroe of Plano, Texas, carded a 3-over-par 73 to take medalist honors at Oak Tree Country Club β€” West Course Monday. Sun Gyoung Park of Vail, Ariz., posted an 8-over-par 78 to hold the top spot in the Girls Division and qualify for the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the AJGA Qualifier Series for the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree was an 18-hole stroke play event held at the Oak Tree Country Club β€” West Course. The 77-player field featured players from nine states. The Boys Division played the par-70 course at 6,522 yards while the Girls Division played at 5,649 yards.

McInroe had a double bogey on his first hole but went on to card an eagle and a birdie on the front nine despite the gusting winds.

β€œThe course was great but the wind was blowing 30 MPH into our face,” McInroe said.

McInroe opted to take a tournament exemption in lieu of playing in this week's tournament.

Qualifying for the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree were Jackson Ogle of Arcadia, Okla., Raine Copeland of Carrollton, Texas, Henry Todd of Trophy Club, Texas, Trey Cassity of Katy, Texas, Charlie Saxon of Tulsa, Okla., Joe Atkisson of Springfield, Mo., Elliott Thompson of Frisco, Texas and Ted Monhollon of Tulsa, Okla. Maxwell Meyers of Edmond, Okla., claimed the final spot in a three-way sudden-death playoff.

Also qualifying but opting to take a tournament exemption were Marcus Opheim of San Marcos, Texas, Ben Bankhead of McKinney, Texas, Glenn Payne of Ardmore, Okla., Michael Schoolcraft of Englewood, Colo., Ryan Hadash of Katy, Texas and Jack Cantele of Wichita, Kan.

In the Girls Division, Park said putting helped her achieve a three-stroke lead and she is looking forward to this week's tournament.

β€œIt was my first qualifier,” Park said. β€˜I didn't know if I was going to make it but I guess I did. My goal is to be in the top five; I've never been top five before.”

Also qualifying to play were Avery Kyle of Frisco, Texas and Michelle Hartenstein of Austin, Texas.

Qualifying but opting to take a tournament exemption were Taylor Newlin of Frisco, Texas and Chelsea Mocio of Fort Worth, Texas.
