SIZEMORE SHOOTS 1-UNDER-PAR 70 TO TAKE MEDALIST HONORS
Weaver, Hildebrandt Co-Medalists in Girls Division
WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Matthew Sizemore of Richmond, Va., carded the only round under par Sunday en route to Boys Division medalist honors in the Srixon Qualifier for the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior. In the Girls Division, Alli Weaver of Lititz, Pa., and Laura Hildebrandt of Ancaster, Ontario shared the honor after shooting 6-over-par 77s.
Conducted by the AJGA, the Srixon Qualifier for the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior was an 18-hole, stroke play, shotgun start event held at the par-71 Penn Oaks Golf Club. The 98-player field featured players from 17 states and Canada. The Boys Division played the event at 6,582 yards, while the Girls Division played at 5,905 yards.
Sizemore, playing in his first AJGA event, said his putting bailed him out on more than one occasion during Sunday's round.
“I had a lot of par saves and good breaks today,” he said. “Today's round just proves that I am playing well. It has been a good year, but until now has not been showing up on my scorecards.”
In all, 14 boys qualified for this week's CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior. Also qualifying for this week's Boys Division field were Brian Hwang of Hauppauge, N.Y., Brandon Meltzer of Melville, N.Y., Jonathan Renza of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., Ryan Blair of Omaha, Neb., Parker Davis of Chadds Ford, Pa., Brad Cadigan of South Weymouth, Mass., Ben Jessen of Simsbury, Conn., Joshua Burg of Willow Street, Pa., Siwol Chang of Nesconset, N.Y., Jesse Bingaman of Nazareth, Pa., Wade Wawner of Virginia Beach, Va., Matthew Cohen of Tenafly, N.J., and Christopher Orlando of Broomall, Pa.

In the Girls Division, Weaver and Hildebrandt will both be playing in this week's event.
Weaver, who along with Sizemore was playing in her first AJGA event, credited her putting for her low score.
“When I needed to make a putt, I did,” she said. “I am excited to be able to play in my first event and we will just have to see how it goes.”
Hildebrandt said she was happy with how she played and hopes to carry that momentum into the event.
“I just need to keep it steady,” she said. “I want to continue to drive the ball well like I did today.”
Also qualifying to play in the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior in the Girls Division were Emily Linn of Englewood, N.J., Taylor Orr of Skillman, N.J., and Jacqueline Calamaro of Newtown Square, Pa.
Sara Jackson of Sound Beach, N.Y., decided to take one AJGA Tournament Exemption in lieu of playing in this week's event.
