CHUN LEADS BOYS DIVISION AT 6-UNDER-PAR 138 AT BOYNE HIGHLANDS
Moon, Kim and Solberg tied for first at 3-over-par 147 to lead Girls Division

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. — Jae Han Chun of Ansung-City, South Korea, fired his second consecutive round of 3-under-par 69 to lead the Boys Division with a tournament total of 6-under-par 138 after the second round of the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands. Leading the Girls Division are Seo Hee Moon of Mukilteo, Wash., Stacy Kim of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Lindsey Solberg of Verona, Wis. all with 3-over-par 147 tournament totals.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at Boyne Highlands Resort — Moor Course. The 144-player field features players from 24 states, South Korea, Mexico and Canada. The course is being played at 6,850 yards for the Boys Division and 6,079 yards for the Girls Division.

Starting off with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 10 and 11, Chun stayed calm and used course management to put him atop the leaderboard.

“Coming into today, I just wanted to concentrate on my game, focusing on how I wanted to attack the course.” Chen said.

Chun also birdied Nos. 15 and 18 for a 2-under-par 34 on his opening nine. He posted birdies on Nos. 4 and 8 on the way to a 1-under-par 35 on his back nine to finish with a 3-under-par 69 second round total.

In second is Adam Sumrall of South Bend, Ind., carding a 5-under-par 139 tournament total. Tied for third are Aaron Fitzpatrick of Orlando, Fla., and Chan Kim of Honolulu, posting 4-under-par 140 tournament totals. Alone in fifth is Blake Redmond of Sugar Land, Texas, recording a 2-under-par 142 for the tournament.

In the Girls Division, Moon said she depended on her driver to help pull her into the lead.

“My driver went right where I wanted it to every single time,” Moon said.

Solberg said birdies on Nos. 17 and 18 gave her motivation to finish the back nine strong.

“I just tried to go out today and hit greens and fairways,” Solberg said. “Off the tee, my drives were going pretty straight so it seemed to work out.”

Kim said her birdie on No. 18 was a good way to end the round, but would like to work on her ball striking and putting for Friday's final round.
