KROPP GOES 3-UNDER TO CLAIM VICTORY AT OSSO JUNIOR AT OAK TREE
Reeves retains Girls Division lead to take home first AJGA win

EDMOND, Okla. — Edmond native William Kropp carded a 2-under-par 68 Thursday to take the Boys Division title at the OSSO Junior at Oak Tree, finishing with a 2-day total of 3-under-par 137. Crystal Reeves of Broken Arrow, Okla., claimed victory in the Girls Division after posting a 7-over-par 77 to finish the tournament at 10-over-par 150.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the OSSO Junior at Oak Tree was a 36-hole, stroke play event held at Oak Tree Country Club — East Course. The 144-player field featured juniors from 16 states and Canada. The course was played at 7,036 yard for the Boys Division and 5,751 for the Girls Division. Wednesday's second round was cancelled due to unplayable course conditions as a result of heavy rain.

With a birdie on No. 18 to seal the day, Kropp put the finishing touches on a round that included six birdies, four bogeys and a rain delay to claim his third AJGA victory. Kropp battled fellow Edmond resident Geoffrey Shaw for the title on a day Kropp described as “very up and down.”

“I knew if I could stick in there in the end and if I could just find how to make some pars I could stay in it,” Kropp said. “I just had to tell myself to keep making pars.”

Shaw finished second in the Boys Division, ending the tournament with a 2-day total of 139. Behind Shaw in third place was Nathan Chambers of Purcell, Okla., who carded a two-over-par 72 to finish at even-par 140. Zachary Blair of Ogden, Utah, finished fourth at 3-over-par 143 while Talor Gooch of Midwest City, Okla., came in fifth with a two-day total of 4-over-par 144.

Also notable for the day was a hole-in-one made by Michael Gladstein of Houston, Texas, on the 190-yard, par 3 No. 14.

In the Girls Division, Reeves kept her cool to retain her first-round lead and claim her first AJGA victory.

She said she was uncomfortable for most of the day but believed that she gave herself enough chances to save par and drain clutch putts.

“I know I can't always be perfect,” Reeves said. “Today I was good enough though to put it together and somehow it was enough.”

Behind Reeves was Lila Barton of Dallas, Texas, who carded a 5-over-par 75 on the final day to finish in second place with a 12-over-par 152. Katy Nugent of Wichita, Kan., shot 9-over-par to end the tournament in third place with a two-day total of 14-over-par 154
