FIDELITY INVESTMENTS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Redstone Golf Club - Tournament Course
Humble, Texas • June 4 - 7

WENNERSTROM AND PETERSON TIE FOR LEAD WITH 10-UNDER PAR 134
Lopez takes over the lead for Girls Division by one stroke

HUMBLE, Texas — After the second round of the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship, Adam Wennerstrom of Austin, Texas, and John Peterson of Fort Worth, Texas, are leading the Boys Division after each recording a 10-under-par 134 tournament total. Lee Lopez of Whittier, Calif., is leading the Girls Division after carding a 4-under-par 140 tournament total.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship is a 54-hole stroke play event held at Redstone Golf Club — The Jacobsen Hardy Course. The 84-player field features players from 10 states and Uruguay. The course is playing at 7,132 yards for the Boys Division and 6,190 yards for the Girls Division.

Peterson, who placed third in this tournament last year, hopes to use his experience to his advantage and take the win.

“I hit my irons and 3-wood well and was 3-under-par on the front,” Peterson said. “Golf's easier when you can two-putt or birdie.”

Besides being happy about being in contention for a win, Wennerstrom is also excited about a good start to the summer recruiting season.

“I kept things under control and kept it going,” Wennerstrom said. “Tomorrow I'll take it one shot at a time, one putt at a time, and see where it puts me.”

Tied for third in the Boys Division are Benjamin Thorseth of Richmond, Texas, and Blake Redmond of Sugar Land, Texas, both posting 6-under-par 138 tournament totals. In fifth place is Beau Schoolcraft of Englewood, Colo., shooting a 5-under-par 139 tournament total.

In the Girls Division, Lopez said the key to gaining the lead today was her putting. She said her consistency throughout the round helped keep her score low.

“I got up and down when I needed to,” Lopez said. “Tomorrow I'll play another round of golf - hit the fairways and greens and hopefully the putter will get hot.”

Tied for second in the Girls Division are Tessa Teachman of Baton Rouge, La., and Allyson Ferguson of Houston, each carding 3-under-par 141 tournament totals.
