TUCSON, Ariz. — Team AINOKEA, Rolex Junior All-Americans Andrew Yun of Tacoma, Wash., and Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii, fired a two-round total of 3-under-par 139 Saturday to grab a narrow, one-stroke advantage after a windy opening 36 holes at the I.R.I./Srixon Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the I.R.I./Srixon Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk is a 54-hole stroke play event held at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The tournament field is comprised of 35 teams, each with one boy and one girl, and features players from eight different states. The girls are playing the Arizona National Golf Club at 5,945 yards, while the boys are playing it at 6,645 yards.

In the first round, Yun and Kim carded a solid 6-under-par 65 to open the day in the modified Scotch format and held a one-stroke edge going into the afternoon foursomes.

“We actually played pretty well this morning,” Kim said. “The main thing was putting and we made some big putts. I just wish I could hit the ball straight, especially with the wind like it was.”

“We struggled some early, but our scores came out nicely,” Yun added. “We were just hitting a lot of greens and grinding it out. This is a really fun tournament, a unique event, and I'm just glad to be out here driving a cart and having a good time.”

In the afternoon, Team AINOKEA posted a second-round 74 in the Foursomes format to seize the one-shot lead heading into the final round. In the same pairing, The Fullertoners, Hyun Seok Lim and Christine Song, both of Fullerton, Calif., are currently in second place at 2-under-par 140. They carded a matching second-round 74 following a 5-under-par 66 in the morning session.

Special K, Austyn and Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., are in the third spot at 143, while The DOminators, Max and Brianna Do of Lakewood, Calif., are in fourth place after a 145. King and Queen of Clubs, Ben Itterman of Carlsbad, Calif., and Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., are in fifth at 146.
