REINERTSON HOLDS ON FOR VICTORY AT FUTURE LEGENDS
Do runs away from field to collect second straight title
WALES, Wis. - Jordan Reinertson of Gibbon, Neb.,
held on for a one stroke victory after firing a 219 tournament total at
Future Legends. In the Girls Division, Brianna Do of Lakewood, Calif.,
picked up her second win in as many weeks when she carded a 216. Future Legends was a 54-hole tournament
conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at The Legend at
Brandybrook in Wales, Wis. The field of 63 boys and 21 girls boasted
juniors from 16 states.
As Reinertson walked to the 17th hole he knew
he had a three-stroke lead on the field, but quickly saw that dwindle
to only one after finding trouble off the tee. Beginning to feel the
pressure and not knowing his closest competitor had already missed a
birdie to tie, Reinertson left his approach shot left of the green in a
spot he hadn't seen since the practice round. Reinertson, who knew he
needed at least a par, collected himself and knocked his chip to within
two feet, leaving a tap-in for the win.
“Today was unbelievable. Coming in I just
wanted to play a solid round and have a chance in the end,” said
Reinertson. “I didn't chip well, but to have a good one when I did was
a relief.”
Finishing in second was Tain Lee from San
Juan Capistrano, Calif., with a tournament total of 220. In a three-way
tie for third were Luke Carson of Des Moines, Iowa, Andrew Patipaksiri
of Cypress, Calif., and Brady Keegan of Eau Claire, Wis., who all fired
tournament totals of 221.
In the Girls Division, Do, coming off a
victory at the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior last week,
began the day slow, but turned it on in the end to run away from the
field by nine strokes. Carding a final round 70, she collected the only
round under par in the Girls Division for the tournament.
“I was able to put it all together and played
really well today,” said Do. “It feels great to win back-to-back. This
gives me a ton of confidence going into the rest of the summer
tournaments.”
Finishing in a tie for second were Ashley
Freeman of Belleville, Ill., and Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif.,
with tournament totals of 225.
Emily Johnson of Warsaw, Ind., aced the
156-yard, No. 6 with an 8-iron. The hole-in-one was the third of the
Future Legends tournament.
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501
(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and
development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf
scholarships through competitive junior golf. The largest Association

12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 30
