REINERTSON HOLDS ONE-SHOT LEAD AT FUTURE LEGENDS
Frasier leads the way in the Girls Division
WALES, Wis. - Jordan Reinertson of Gibbon, Neb., holds a one-stroke lead in the Boys Division at Future Legends after firing an even par round of 71. In the Girls Division, Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., sits a top the leaderboard after firing a first-round score of 74.
Future Legends is a 54-hole tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at The Legend at Brandybrook in Wales, Wis. The field of 63 boys and 20 girls boasts juniors from 16 states.
Reinertson overcame very challenging greens to put together a solid putting performance today. Beginning the day with three birdies helped him gain confidence, allowing him to keep playing aggressively. In doing so, he captured a one-shot lead over the rest of the field.
“I kept the ball in play which you have to do on a course like this,” said Reinertson. “These might be the fastest greens I've ever played on, but my game was pretty solid today.”
Tied for second place with scores of 1-over-par 72 are Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, Wis., and Maxwell Scodro of Chicago. In a three-way tie for fourth are Vincent India of Deerfield, Ill., Brady Keegan of Eau Claire, Wis., and Brendan Gaughan of Greenwood, Ind.
In the Girls Division, Frasier, who is coming off an AJGA victory last week in Washington, sits a top the leaderboard again. She spent the majority of her day in the fairways and on the greens, avoiding trouble as much as possible. After carding a 3-over-par 74, she holds a one-stroke advantage over the field.
“I hope to just keep doing what I'm doing right now,” said Frasier. “I'm not focused on winning yet, I just have to play my game.”
