LOSOLE OVERCOMES FOUR-STROKE DEFICIT TO WIN MEDALIST HONORS
Hagy earns second with a 143 while seven boys tie for third at 144

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.- Beginning the day in a six-way tie for 13th, Nicholas Losole III of Scottsdale, Ariz., overcame a four-stroke deficit to win medalist honors at the Medicus Preseason Junior at Rancho Mirage in California. For the 36-hole event, Losole shot 73-69 for a tournament total of 142.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Medicus Preseason Junior at Rancho Mirage was held at The Westin Mission Hills Resort on the Gary Player Signature Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The par-72 course was set up at 6,883 yards. The tournament field consisted of 84 boys representing 11 states and Canada, including 61 from the state of California.

Losole shot a 2-under-par 34 on the front nine of his final round, which included three birdies and one bogey.

“Going into today I thought a 66 would give me the win,” said Losole. “Because of my slow start today I didn't think I was going to win, I was just hoping for a top 10 finish.”

The 15-year-old proceeded to par the next eight-out-of-nine holes to card a 1-under-par 35 on the back nine, posting a 69, the low round of the day. After his first AJGA tournament, Losole is looking forward to his next event.

“This win gives me a good outlook on my game,” continued Losole. “I now have a lot more optimism for my future in the AJGA.”

Brandon Hagy of Westlake Village, Calif., placed second in the event with a two-day total of 70-73 — 143, while seven boys tied for third at 144, two strokes behind the leader. Those boys include Dusty Craddock of Boulder City, Nev., Brandon Lang of Ramona, Calif., Gavin Foster of North Tustin, Calif., Matthew Siporin of Tarzana, Calif., Niall Platt of Santa Barbara, Calif., Ramsey Sahyoun of Reseda, Calif., and James Albert of San Bernardino, Calif.

Thomas Moore of Huntington Beach, Calif., rounds out the top 10, shooting a 1-over-par 145 throughout the two-day event.
