DAVIDSON AND MONAS SHARE MEDALIST HONORS AT RED TAIL GOLF CLUB
Ohio natives shine in home state

AVON, Ohio β€” Drew Davidson of Canton, Ohio, and Kent Monas of Perry, Ohio, both turned in tournament totals of 149 to share medalist honors at the Medicus Preseason Junior at Red Tail.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Medicus Preseason Junior at Red Tail was held at Red Tail Golf Club in Avon, Ohio. Part of the Medicus Preseason/Postseason Junior Series, the Medicus Preseason Junior at Red Tail was a 36-hole stroke play event and consisted of 84 boys, ages 12-18. The players hailed from 12 states and Canada. The par-72 golf course played to 6,513 yards.

Davidson made six birdies Sunday to roar back from a three-stroke deficit. He made four birdies on the front to finish it at even-par for the side. His back-nine consisted of two birdies, which helped him to share top honors.

β€œI felt good all day,” said co-medalist Davidson. β€œI felt less pressure being in the second-to-last group.”

Monas hit 11 fairways and 12 greens in regulation on his way to a final-round 75. Monas made two birdies on the front-nine and one on the back-nine.

β€œTo tell you the truth I'm a little disappointed,” said co-medalist Monas. β€œIt does start my summer on a good foot however, and I'm looking forward to playing more often.”

Payne Gniewek of Trenton, Mich., finished in third with a tournament total of 150. Brendan Barrack of Toronto, Ontario, finished in fourth at 151. Josh Bamberger of Waterloo, Ontario, and Michael Sudzina of Greenwood, Ind., tied for fifth with matching 152s. Michael Drobnick of Hilliard, Ohio, Ryan Davis of Salem, Va., and Luke Sherrod of Knoxville, Tenn., all tied for seventh at 153. Zachary Glassman of Highland Heights, Ohio, finished alone in tenth at 154.
