ROBERT TRENT JONES GOLF TRAIL JUNIOR
Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club2 - Falls and Crossings Courses
Mobile, Ala. • October 7 - 10

UIHLEIN ALONE IN FIRST AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF PLAY
Park's 69 gives her 9-stroke lead entering the final round

MOBILE, Ala. — After two days of play, Peter Uihlein of Bradenton, Fla., sits alone atop the leader board at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior. After shooting consecutive 71s, he is one stroke ahead in the Boys Division. Continuing her dominant play, defending champion Angela Park of Torrance, Calif., holds a nine-stroke lead in the Girls Division.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior is being played on the Falls and Crossings Courses at Magnolia Grove Golf Club. Eighty-four boys are competing on the Falls Course, while the Crossings Course is playing host to 50 girls. Twenty-five states and two foreign countries are represented at the event. Originally scheduled for Sept. 2-5, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior was postponed due to Hurricane Katrina.

Uihlein started the day four strokes off the lead, but played a steady round to gain the lead over Tadd Fujikawa of Honolulu, Hawaii. Although not hitting many fairways, Uihlein's putting more than made up for it. With only 27 putts on the day, he is hoping to bring his entire game together for Monday's final round.

“I really need to start hitting more fairways and greens,” the 16-year-old remarked. “I have not been giving myself many birdie chances and I need to start doing that if I'm going to win.”

Finishing his final hole with a birdie, Uihlein hopes to carry the momentum into the final round. He will have some close competition in the Boys Division, as four boys are within three strokes of the lead. Alone in second is Fujikawa, at 1-under-par. In a three-way tie for third are Josh Jones of The Colony, Texas, Ryan Sirman of Tyler, Texas, and Ji Moon of Lake Mary, Fla., at 1-over-par.

In the Girls Division, Park tore away from the pack after shooting a 3-under-par 69. With five birdies on the day, she was able to secure herself a solid lead going into the final round Monday. Even though she finished her round with a bogey on the par-4 No.18, she is ready to play the final round.

“My goal today was to shoot a 65,” said the 17-year-old. “Since that didn't happen, I'm ready to get back out there and do it tomorrow.”

Park will have to continue her solid play in order to win her second title at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior. In second place are Stacey Kim of Midland, Ga., and Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., with two-day totals of 148.
