GALLETTI, JR. SETS GOALS HIGH AFTER SECOND ROUND
Younts and Glissmeyer keeping Galletti, Jr. from running away with FootJoy Boys Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Roberto Galletti, Jr. has a goal for the third round of the FootJoy Boys Invitational: to be 20-under-par. After posting a 5-under-par 67 in the second round, to move to 13-under-par 131 overall, Galletti, Jr. is getting closer to that goal. He has a 3-stroke lead over Drew Younts of Stokesdale, N.C., and Tom Glissmeyer of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the FootJoy Boys Invitational is being held at the Forest Oaks Country Club, home of the PGA TOUR's Chrysler Classic of Greensboro. For the championship, the course plays to 7,187 yards, only 10 yards less than the PGA TOUR distance. Ninety-nine junior golfers from 23 states and three countries, including China, Peru and Australia, are competing in the 72-hole event. Thirty-nine Rolex Junior All-Americans are in the field.

Despite having eight birdies for the round, Galletti, Jr. said he feels he still left some shots on the course.

“In the beginning, I had some jitters, that's for sure,” he said. “This course seemed a little harder today.”

Galletti, Jr. said he focused on staying calm, patient and tried not to think about where he stood, which was not far ahead of Younts and Glissmeyer.

A great approach shot to the green from the right rough of No. 18 fairway gave Younts a chance at birdie to end his second round. Fourth after the first round, Younts came from behind to post a second-round score of 5-under-par 67, 10-under-par for the tournament, to tie Glissmeyer for second place.

“I just tried to stay calm and let the shots come to me,” Younts said.

Glissmeyer birdied Nos. 7, 8 and 9, leading him to a second-round score of 3-under-par 69. Glissmeyer said, though he had a slow start, he feels confident where he stands, especially because of the intense competition in the field.

“This is, without a doubt, one of the strongest fields,” he said. “It feels good to be where I am.”

Marc Gladson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mu Hu of Shen Zhen, China, are tied for fourth with 8-under-par 136s. Tied for sixth with 6-under-par 138s are Spencer Cole of Greer, S.C., Noah Goldman of Longwood, Fla., and Daniel Woltman of Beaver Dam, Wis. Philip Francis of Scottsdale Ariz., Sihwan Kim of Fullerton, Calif., and Drew Kittleson of Scottsdale, Ariz., are tied for ninth posting 4-under-par 140s.
