BLASBERG SHOOTS 71 TO RETAIN GIRLS DIVISION LEAD
Keeney has one shot lead going into final round

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Erica Blasberg of Corona, Calif., stayed atop the Girls Division leaderboard in the AJGA ClubCorp Junior at Mission Hills by firing a 71 to open up a three-shot lead. In the Boys Division, Ryan Keeney of Redmond, Wash., continued his hot play by shooting a 70, good enough for a one-shot advantage over Anthony Kim of La Quinta, Calif., going into Thursday's final round.

The AJGA ClubCorp Junior at Mission Hills, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, features 84 of the nation's top junior golfers ages 13-18. In its 20th year, the 54-hole tournament includes 17 Polo Golf Junior All-Americans. Ten states and Scotland are also represented in this week's field. Past winners include names such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bob May, Grace Park, Kellee Booth and Emilee Klein.

Blasberg's back-to-back rounds under par are the only two totals below 72 in the Girls Division through two rounds.

"I was hitting a lot of fairways and greens, just like I did yesterday," said the 16-year-old Blasberg. "I've focused on consistency over the first two rounds and I'm hoping to play the same way tomorrow and make some more putts."

Joining Blasberg in the top three spots of the Girls Division are defending champion Ina Kim of Encino, Calif., at even-par 144 and Erin Long of Napa, Calif., and Sunny Oh of Torrance, Calif., at 146.

In the Boys Division, Keeney began his first five holes at 3-under-par on his way to his fourth consecutive round of 70 or below in an AJGA event.

"I just need to keep playing the way I'm playing," said Keeney. "I feel very confident right now that every round will be in the 60s. It just matters what kind of breaks I get. It seems like my bogeys only come with the bad breaks."

Keeney's lead is a delicate one heading into the final round with three other players within two shots of the lead.

That group is headlined by Kim, who shot a second-round 68 to close in on Keeney. Kyle Gentry of Carmel, Calif., and defending champion Kevin Na of Diamond Bar, Calif., sit two shots back going into the final round. Rounding out the top five in the Boys Division is Scott MacDonald of Playa Del Rey, Calif., with a two-round total of 141.

The second round also saw two holes-in-one, including Priscilla Park's second ace in as many days. Park, of Santa Ana, Calif., recorded a hole-in-one on the 140-yard No. 4 hole with a 7-iron. Ashley Rollins of Austin, Texas scored her first career hole-in-one on the 121-yard No. 11 with a nine iron.

Final-round action will begin Thursday morning with tee times running from 6:30-8:27 a.m. off the No. 1 and 10 tees.
