ELEVEN BOYS, THREE GIRLS FILL SPOTS FOR AJGA HARGRAY JUNIOR CLASSIC
Bart, Lee earn medalist honors

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.- Matthew Bart of Savannah, Ga., earned medalist honors in the Boys Division with a 1-under-par 71 and Jeehae Lee of Andover, Md., was the Girls Division medalist also with a 1-under-par 71 in Monday's Pepsi Series Qualifier presented by ClubCorp for the AJGA Hargray Junior Classic at Indigo Run in Hilton Head Island, S.C. In all, fourteen players earned spots in the tournament field.

Bart started the day on No. 5 and was 3-over-par through the first five holes. On the back nine, Bart turned it on and birdied six of the nine holes. For the round, Bart had seven birdies, two bogeys and two double-bogeys.

"I wasn't real consistent today," Bart joked. "But the soft greens really helped out today. I could shoot at the holes. You could hit into the greens with any club and it would stick.

"I didn't drive the ball very well today," Bart said. "When I did hit it in the fairway, I made birdie. This is a course that you can score well on when you keep it in play."

The 17-year-old Bart has played well at the Golden Bear Golf Club. He placed 16th in this event last year, in addition to earning medalist honors in this year's qualifier.

Joining him in the Boys Division will be Bryan Rozier of Acworth, Ga., who qualified at even-par 72. Matthew Smith of Dunwoody, Ga., Chiho Kwak of Jacksonville, Fla., and Steve Colnitis of Baldwin, Md., qualified at 1-over-par 73. Bill Roach, Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., Ryan Gabel of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Devin O'Connor of Seven Valleys, Pa., were at 2-over-par 74. Matt Sheldon of Wolfeboro, N.H., Rand Boyd of Savannah, Ga., and Matt Neusel of Dearborn, Mich., all qualified at 3-over-par 75.

In the Girls Division, Lee shot a 1-under-par 71, and played very consistent throughout the round. The 18-year-old Lee had two birdies, a bogey and 15 pars to qualify for the Hargray Junior Classic at Indigo Run.

"I didn't hit the ball very long, but I kept it in the fairway," Lee said. "I was very consistent today and scored pretty well."

Lee posted nines of 35-36 to qualify for her fourth tournament of the year. She placed seventh in last week's PING Myrtle Beach Junior Classic.

"My short game was pretty good today," Lee added. "My iron shots were a little off the mark, so I need to work on that before the tournament starts."

This will be Lee's fourth AJGA event thus far this year.

Lee will be joined in the field by Theresa Paik of Silver Springs, Md., who qualified with a two-over-par 74 and Brooke Layton of Tampa, Fla., at three-over-par 75.

The Hargray Junior Classic at Indigo Run, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, features 84 players from 15 states and includes four Polo Junior Golf All-Americans.

The Hargray Junior Classic at Indigo Run gets underway on Wednesday with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. off Nos. 1 and 10. For more information, contact AJGA tournament headquarters at (843) 681-8160.
