CASANO EARNS MEDALIST HONORS AT SECOND HEATHER FARR CLASSIC QUALIFIER

Final qualifiers round out Easter Weekend tournament field

MESA, Ariz. – Sebastian Casano of Phoenix fired an even-par 71 Sunday to earn medalist honors in the final qualifier for the Heather Farr Classic.

The 18-hole qualifier, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, featured 40 players from five states and Canada, including 21 Arizona natives. The event, held at Longbow Golf Club, determined the final players for the Heather Farr Classic, which will be played April 9-11 and feature 120 of the nation’s top junior golfers.

Casano, who started on No. 3, got off to a good start on the day with a birdie on his first hole. He was 2-under after three holes and made the turn at 3-under.

“I got off to a good start, but I only hit one green on the back nine because the wind made it really tough,” Casano said.

The 18-year-old finished the day with four birdies en route to a 33-38—71.

“I had nine one-putts today,” he said. “I did not have any really long putts and I got up-and-down a lot. The key to my round was definitely my short game and I drove the ball well too. I was rolling it well today and I think I have these greens down pretty well. I need to work on my iron play for next weekend.”

Rounding out the qualifiers were Dane Bagnell of Edgewood, Wash.; Derek Adams of Lake Havasu City; Travis Gonda of Tucson; Jeff Krakowiak of Glendale; and Rui Takamatsu of Palm Desert, Calif.
