Nuun and Company, the pioneer of electrolyte enhanced drink tablets, has partnered with the American Junior Golf Association to become a product sponsor of Operation Hydration.

The Seattle-based company will become a fixture of the AJGA’s Operation Hydration, an initiative that started in 2012 to provide on-course support for parents, spectators, staff and junior golfers who are at risk in hot summer temperatures. Nuun product tablets will be available on the Nos. 1 and 10 tees of AJGA events and will provide additional education about the importance of hydration on the AJGA ‘U’ website.
Operation Hydration was implemented following the 2011 summer which produced the hottest summer on record for four states – Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. In addition, cities across the country experienced record temperatures from May to August.
“We highly value the safety of our members and Operation Hydration is an avenue to help ensure that safety,” said Stephen Hamblin, AJGA executive director. “The bulk of our season takes place during the summer months where extreme heat conditions are prevalent, so making sure our players, parents and staff are healthy is crucial. Our partnership with Nuun will help continue educating our membership and develop good nutritional habits.”
In addition to Nuun products at all AJGA events, the Operation Hydration program provides all parents, junior golfers, college golf coaches and spectators with the following for safety:
· Certified medical attendant
· Bottled water
· Available nutrition (fruit and energy bars)
In addition to often providing on-site nutritionists or education about proper hydration, players and parents are able to access videos, articles and other resources on the AJGA website or AJGA U during the season to get information on proper nutrition before, during and after play, what to do during extreme heat, and why to drink more water.
