Weekend wrap-up (March 3)

Paula Creamer won the HSBC Women’s Champions with a tournament total of 10-under-par 278. She secured the win with a 75-foot eagle putt on the second playoff hole against Azahara Munoz. This victory marks Creamer’s 10th LPGA win, and her first since the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open.

Creamer claimed victories in 10 AJGA events from 2000-03, including the 2003 Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Creamer represented the United States at the 2002 PING Junior Solheim Cup, was named Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2003 and played in the Wyndham Cup in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

Russell Henley birdied the first hole of a four-man playoff to win The Honda Classic, his second PGA TOUR title. Henley’s tournament total of 8-under-par 272 put him into a tie with Rory McIlroy, Ryan Palmer and Russell Knox.

This marks Henley’s second PGA TOUR victory. His first came at the 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii. Before Henley competed at the University of Georgia, he played in three AJGA events, earning a top-five finish at the 2006 Golf Pride Junior Classic.

The Honda Classic was held at PGA National Resort & Spa, the host facility for the Polo Golf Junior Classic from 2009-13.
