20 players named to GGGA Junior All-Star Team

Winners of the Junior All-Star at Hilton Head, Austin Connelly and Isabella Skinner are two of the 20 players that have been named to the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Team.
BRASELTON, Ga. – The 10th Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Team includes 20 players from nine states and Canada, the American Junior Golf Association announced Thursday.

The Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series included 10 tournaments during the 2011 season. Specifically designed for boys and girls ages 12-15, the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series presents opportunities for younger players to develop their skills and earn entry into AJGA Open tournaments. The team of 20 players will be honored Friday, Oct. 7, at the Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Invitational in Montverde, Fla.

Nineteen of the 20 players on the team won a Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star event during the 2011 season. Austin Connelly of Las Colinas, Texas, is the only player to win twice, while Edwin Yi of Beaumont, Calif., earned a spot on the team by posting a pair of runner-up finishes.

Taylor Coleman, 14, of San Antonio is the only player returning from the 2010 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Team. Ranked No. 20 in the Polo Golf Rankings, she has also been invited to play at the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy, Sept. 13-15, at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England.

Former members of the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Team include college and professional standouts, such as Rickie Fowler (2004), Peter Uihlein (2004), Bud Cauley (2005), Brianna Do (2004), Vicky Hurst (2005) and Cheyenne Woods (2005).

Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, a full-time signature golf instruction program located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., began as an Official Partner of the AJGA in 2009. The partnership features an endowment of an Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant and naming rights to the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series for juniors ages 12-15.
