Long Cove Club to Host 2010 Rolex Girls Junior Championship
19th annual event set for June 14-17

The 15th hole at Long Cove Club

BRASELTON, Ga. – Long Cove Club, ranked 47th on Golfweek’s list of Best Modern Courses in the U.S., will host the 19th annual Rolex Girls Junior Championship, June 14-17, the American Junior Golf Association announced Friday.

“The AJGA is excited to continue our partnership with Long Cove Club,” said Jason Ross, AJGA Vice President of Tournament Development. “Long Cove is a first-class facility and will provide a solid challenge for 78 of the world’s best female junior golfers.”

Set among 630 acres of moss-draped live oaks, magnolias and sweeping vistas of saltwater marsh, this Pete Dye course is consistently ranked among the top courses in the nation. The scenic Hilton Head Island venue has previously hosted three other prestigious AJGA Invitational events: Canon Cup in 1999, and Rolex Tournament of Champions in 1997 and 2005. Built in 1981, the par-71 course tops out at over 7,000 yards, and has earned the No. 15 ranking in Golfweek’s Top 100 Residential Golf Courses in the U.S.

Long Cove Club joins a list of celebrated courses that have hosted the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, including two LPGA International courses, the Glenwild Country Club in Park City, Utah, and Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

In 2009, Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii, survived a sudden-death playoff with Jessica Korda of Bradenton, Fla., to win the event with a 2-over-par 218 tournament total at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. Other notable past champions include Morgan Pressel (2005), Julieta Granada (2004) and Paula Creamer (2003). In the event’s 18-year history, the champion has gone on to win Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors eight times.
