My Scotty Cameron Moment

Scotty

Each week, the AJGA honors the boy and girl junior golfers who shoot the lowest round during the final tournament round. Each of these players will be presented with one of this year's new Scotty Cameron putter covers. In this feature, we will hear from the players each week who take home this honor and what helped them get there.

Coca-Cola Junior All-Star Championship at Boyne Highlands

“I started on No. 10 and after hitting a good drive I had 141 yards left to the hole,” said Tatiana Pineda of Bogota, Colombia, who shot a final-round even-par 72. “I hit a 5-wood to within three feet and made the putt for birdie which gave me confidence to have a strong round.”

“I bombed a drive on No. 8 leaving me a 6-iron in,” said Tyler Williams of Hilton Head Island, S.C., after shooting a final-round, 4-under-par 68 to finish in third place. “I stuck it to two feet and tapped in for an eagle which put me to 3-under-par for the day and kept my momentum going the rest of the round.”

Nemacolin Junior Classic

“I made a bogey on No. 13 and after that I made two birdies in a row to get back to even,” said Harin Lee of Bayside, N.Y., after carding a final-round 74. “It helped that my driver was accurate and longer today.”

“No. 5 and No. 8 were my best holes today,” said Girls Division champion Suzie Lee of East Northport, N.Y., who also finished with a final-round 74. “It was really windy today and the wind would take my ball in different directions”

“My putting was really strong and a lot of them dropped,” said Sean Bosdosh of Clarksburg, Md., after carding a 6-under-par 66. “I had only 22 putts and it is always nice to top off a tournament with a low score.”

Rolex Tournament of Champions

“I eagled my first two par-5s and that really helped keep me strong today,” said Justin Thomas of Goshen, Ky., after firing a 4-under-par 68. “I had a 10-footer on No. 18 and a 15-footer on No. 15 and it felt really good to make both of those.”

“I birdied my first hole (No. 10) and had three birdies in a row,” said Patrick Cantlay of Los Alamitos, Calif., who also carded a final-round 68. “On No. 1, I had just gotten out of the rain delay, was on the green and made a 25-footer for birdie.”

“I started the round off really well, and I could make my birdies early,” said Girls Division winner Victoria Tanco of Bradenton, Fla., after her final-round, 4-under-par 68. “I made a birdie on No. 9 that got me to 3-under-par and a seven-shot lead. I was confident after that.”

Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic

“(Second-place finisher) Sean (Kelly) played really solid all day,” said Boys Division winner Payne Denman of Riverwatch, Tenn., who carded a final-round, 7-under-par 64. “He was making me make birdies. He kept pressure on me, so I didn’t feel like a par was good enough.”

“I birdied Nos. 15 and 18 and on No. 18 I almost tied for the lead, so that birdie was my best hole,” said Ashlan Ramsey of Augusta, Ga., who had a final-round score of even-par 71.

“Starting off with a birdie, and birides on Nos. 6 and 9, were my great moments in today’s round,” said Girls Division champion Kelly Drack of Melbourne, Fla., who also shot a 71 in the final round.

“My moment came on last drive of my junior golf career, square behind the tree, but I made the save (for par),” said Anna Leigh Keith of Moultrie, Ga., who also finished with a even-par 71 in her final round.
