Professional Round-up

Morgan Pressel is now the youngest player to ever win an LPGA major.

Morgan Pressel became the youngest player ever to win an LPGA major, when she came from behind to win the Kraft Nabisco Championship Sunday. Pressel was the 2005 Rolex Junior Player of the Year and became a member of the LPGA after graduating from high school last year. Now, at age 18, less than a year later, she is a major champion. Former AJGA players Brittany Lincicome and Suzann Pettersen tied for second. Read more at Golfweek.

College Round-up

Coastal Carolina edged North Carolina by one stroke to take the Administaff Augusta State Invitational with an 11-under-par 853. Senior Dustin Johnson claimed medalist honors for the third time this year, finishing with three consecutive 68s for a 12-under -par 204.

Brian Locke of Loyola-Marymount took the individual title at the Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate with a 7-under-par 209.

St. Johns claimed victory at the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational with a team total 4-over-par 580. The Red Storm were led by Keegan Bradley, who took medalist honors with a 2-under-par 142.

Arizona State dominated on its home course at the PING/ASU Invitational, which the Sun Devils won by 22 strokes with a 13-under-par 851. They were led by Anna Nordqvist, who claimed the individual title with a 10-under-par 206.

South Florida's Christina Jones took medalist honors at the Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Championship with a 6-over-par 222. The Bulls also captured the team title with a 44-over-par 908.

ACE

The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program provides financial assistance to junior golfers who wish to play in AJGA events. Its goal is to give top-flight golf opportunities to young golfers regardless of financial resources. This program helps to fulfill the AJGA’s mission of developing young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
