Junior Round-up

Kimberly Kim
Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii, became the youngest player to ever win the U.S. Women's Amateur last weekend. Kim, 14, defeated Katharina Schallenberg of Germany 1 up after 36 holes of match-play competition.

Earlier this year, Kim became the youngest player to make the cut at the U.S. Women's Open. The 2009 graduate posted two top-five finishes in 2006. A two-time Rolex Junior All-American, Kim was also named a member of the victorious Canon Cup West Team.

Joe Monte of Chantilly, Va., and Brittany Altomare of Shrewsbury, Mass., earned top honors in their respective divisions at the Westfield PGA Junior Championship. Monte finished at 9-under-par 275 to take the Boys Division by one stroke. Altomare shot an even-par 284 to lead the Girls Division by four shots. With their wins, Monte and Altomare qualify to play at the Junior Ryder Cup in September in Wales.

Professional Round-up

Cristie Kerr won her eighth LPGA victory last weekend at the Canadian Open. It was Kerr's second victory of the season. During her time with the AJGA, Kerr was named the 1995 Rolex Junior Player of the Year.
