Pinnacle Communities to Sponsor AJGA Event in Southern California
Pinnacle Communities Junior Championship to be held Aug. 8-11

Pinnacle Communities, a California-based home builder, will serve as the title sponsor of the Pinnacle Communities Junior Championship to be held Aug. 8-11, 2006, the American Junior Golf Association announced Wednesday. The third annual event will be held on the North Course at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club in Coto de Caza, Calif.

The 99-player, 54-hole event will feature the nation’s top junior boys and girls, ages 12-18. The Pinnacle Communities Junior Championship will include a Srixon Qualifier on Monday, Aug. 7, and a Celebrity-Junior-Am fundraising tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club. The Celebrity-Junior-Am will be a donor’s chance to tee it up with golf’s next generation while also contributing to a worthy cause. Proceeds from this event will benefit a local charity and the AJGA Foundation. Over the past decade, AJGA Junior-Ams have raised more than $1 million for junior golf programs in communities across the United States, including $240,000 in 2005 alone.

The Celebrity Junior-Am will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 8. with a 12:30 shotgun start. Celebrities slated to participate include Robb Nen (recently retired relief pitcher for the San Francisco Giants), Bobby Grich (former Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim second baseman), Steve Bono (15-year quarterback in the NFL), Phoenix Farrell (bass player for the band Linkin Park), Paul Goydos (15-year PGA TOUR player) and Kip Gross (14-year MLB player), among others.

The first round of the event will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, while the second and final rounds will be staged on Thursday, Aug. 10, and Friday, Aug. 11, respectively. Tee times will run from 7:30 a.m. - 12:27 p.m. off the No. 1 tee on all three days.

“The opportunity to support such a noteworthy organization is one that we’re privileged to have,” said Kent Grover and Darrin Campbell, principals of Pinnacle Communities. “The role that our youth play in the present and our future is undoubtedly influenced by such associations as the AJGA, and we look forward to seeing this year’s players succeed in golf and in life for many years to come.”

Since its formation in 1999, the rapidly growing company has established itself as a respected niche builder in a dynamic marketplace by offering quality-crafted homes in sought-after communities. Pinnacle Communities is currently enjoying the sales success of eight new home neighborhoods throughout the Southland. For details, visit pinnaclecommunities.net.

“The AJGA is very excited about establishing a relationship with Pinnacle Communities,” said Joe Mazzeo, AJGA regional director for the West. “Pinnacle Communities’ support of this event will help elevate the tournament and allow the AJGA to further its relationship with the Coto de Caza community. This event always attracts the top juniors from California and around the country and this year will be no different.”
