New Yale Women's Head Coach Named

Chawwadee Rompothong was named the women's head coach at Yale last week. A former Yale Bulldog, Rompothong helped win the conference title three times as a players.

Before being named head coach, Rompothong played professionally on the Futures Tour in 2001 and 2002. She was the assistant coach at Yale in 2005 before replacing Mary Moan for the 2006-2007 season.

Junior Round-up


AJGA Junior Kyle Stanley

Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., recently competed in the Sahalee Players Championship in Sammamish, Wash. After carding a final-round 71, the 2006 graduate entered into a four-way playoff. After carding eagle on two playoff holes, Stanley became the youngest player to win the 13th annual Sahalee Players Championship. Stanley, recently named to the Canon Cup West Team for the second straight year, joins the ranks of AJGA alumni and current PGA TOUR members Ryan Moore and Jason Gore who also have won this event. Stanley will attend Clemson University in the fall.

Amateur Round-up

Brady Schell won the North and South Amateur last weekend defeating Robert Gates, Jr. Schell started the final round 2-up and never relinquinshed his lead. The match ended with Schell winning 5 & 4.

Professional Round-up

Brittany Lincicome took home her first victory on the LPGA Tour last week at the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship. Lincicome defeated LPGA Tour veteran Juli Inkster 3 & 2.

Trevor Immelman won the Cialis Western Open last weekend, defeating Tiger Woods by two shots. This was Immelman's first PGA TOUR victory.

The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program provides financial assistance to junior golfers who wish to play in AJGA events. Its goal is to give top-flight golf opportunities to young golfers regardless of financial resources. This program helps to fulfill the AJGA’s mission of developing young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
