Geminiani Runs Away With the Title at AJGA Florida Junior
Liu wins wire-to-wire at Weston Hills Country Club

WESTON, Fla. — Domenico Geminiani of Bradenton, Fla., shoots a final round 4-under-par 68 to win the AJGA Florida Junior at Weston Hills Country Club — Tour Course. Marika Liu of Beverly Hills, Calif., gets her first AJGA win after shooting an even-par 72 and ending with a three round total of 8-over-par 224..

The AJGA Florida Junior is a 54-hole tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at the Weston Hills Country Club — Tour Course. The event features 56 boys and 20 girls, ages 12-18, from six states, China, the Philippines, Paraguay and Columbia. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,954 yards while the Girls Division is playing the course at 6,007 yards.

Geminiani finished with a three round total of 8-under-par 208. He credits his first AJGA win to his final round front nine 4-under-par 32.

“I made a 35 foot eagle putt on the seventh hole that got the round jumpstarted,” said Geminiani. “The win gives me more confidence. To win on the AJGA is nice.”

Finishing in second place with a three round total of 4-under-par 212 was Parker Jones of Gainesville, Fla. With three day totals of 1-over-par 217s Collin Engelhardt of Orlando, Fla., and Jack Maguire of St. Petersburg, Fla., finished tied for third. Rounding out the top five and finishing fifth was Nicholas Maruri of Mexico City, who shot a three round total of 2-over-par 218.

Liu, who medaled in the K¹² qualifier for the AJGA Florida Junior Sunday, had a steady final round with 16 pars along with one birdie and one bogey.

“I'm just super psyched,” said Liu. “I've been playing on the AJGA for four years. This is just a turning point. I'm just so happy that I won.”

Rounding out the top three in the Girls Division was Kristine Odaiyar of Ocala, Fla., and Kyle Roig of Pembroke Pines, Fla., who finished tied for second with three days totals of 12-over-par 228.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
