ELLIS CONTINUES HOT STREAK AT JOHN DEERE CLASSIC JUNIOR OPEN
Talley extends her lead to four strokes in the Girls Division at Glynns Creek Golf Course

LONG GROVE, Iowa — Alex Ellis, 17, of Austin, Texas, maintained his lead on Wednesday after the second round of the Boys Division at the John Deere Classic Junior Open. Emma Talley, 15, of Princeton, Ky., continues to lead the Girls Division after shooting a 2-under-par 70.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the John Deere Classic Junior Open at Glynns Creek Golf Course is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at Glynns Creek Golf Course. The tournament field consists of 115 Boys and 27 Girls, ages 12-18, from 24 states, Columbia and Canada. The par-72 course is being played at 7,005 yards for the Boys division and 6,148 yards for the Girls Division.

Ellis leads the Boys Division by five strokes after shooting a 1-under-par 71. Ellis was able to maintain his exceptional start from Tuesday by playing steady throughout the day. After posting a bogey on No. 8, Ellis was able to regain his momentum by making a birdie on No. 9.

“I was really nervous starting today in the lead,” Ellis said. “I just tried to be patient. Getting the birdie

on No. 9 helped get me going on the back nine.”

Ian Vandersee of West Des Moines, Iowa, enters the final round in sole possession of second place after posting a 1-under-par 143. Peter Callas of Moline, Ill., Tyler Kato of Seattle, and Jonathan Hauter of Morton, Ill., round out the top three with even-par 144s.

In the Girls Division, Talley extended her day one lead after firing a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 139. Talley started off slow but quickly turned her day around on her second nine with birdies on Nos. 2, 4, and 9.

“I was happy with my round, I played consistent,” Talley said. “Tomorrow I'm just going to try and play how I have been playing”.

Ember Schuldt of Sterling, Ill., sits in second at 1-under-par 143. Pamela Burneski of Surrey, British Columbia, and Courtney Hooton of Del Mar, Calif., are tied for third with 36-hole totals of 2-over-par 146.
