MCLEOD TAKES TITLE AT 6-UNDER-PAR 210 IN LUBBOCK
Lim wins Girls Division by 18 strokes at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech University

LUBBOCK, Texas — Kraig Mcleod of Pebble Beach, Calif., carded a 6-under-par 210 in a win that came down to the final hole at the Junior All-Star at Lubbock hosted by Randy Smith. Tiffany Lim of San Jose, Calif., controlled the Girls Division lead all three rounds and also posted a tournament total 6-under-par 210 to claim victory by 18 strokes.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Junior All-Star at Lubbock hosted by Randy Smith was a 54-hole stroke play event held at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech University. The tournament field consisted of 88 boys and 21 girls, ages 12 to 15, from 20 states and Mexico. The Boys Division played the par-72 course at 6,817 yards, while the Girls Division played the course at 5,859 yards.

Mcleod began the round one shot off of the lead and quickly birdied No. 1. He continued his steady play throughout the day, most proud of his two birdies on par-5s. The lead rotated between each player in the leader group, but Mcleod teed off No. 18 up by one stroke and made par to take the crown.

“It hasn't even hit me yet,” Mcleod said. “I just came off a win last week, my confidence is growing.”

Jake Katz of Thousand Oaks, Calif., placed second at 4-under-par 212, followed by Connor Kurtz of Edmond, Okla., in third at 3-under-par 213. Wyndham Clark of Greenwood Village, Colo., finished fourth at 2-under-par 214. Henry Todd of Trophy Club, Texas, rounded out the top five at 1-under-par 215.

In the Girls Division, Lim recorded four birdies, including two back-to-back on Nos. 16 and 17, to post a final-round 2-under-par 70 and claim the first AJGA victory of her career. Lim separated herself from the field early and entered Thursday's final round with a 10-shot lead.

“I was probably a little more relaxed,” Lim said. “I just knew I had to play my own game and I'd be fine.”

Lily Bartell of Cave Creek, Ariz., finished second at 12-over-par 228. Tied for third at 13-over-par 229 were Heather Proctor of Silver Spring, Fla., and Mariana Sims of Austin, Texas.
