SECOND ROUND 4-UNDER-PAR 68 GIVES CLARK TWO-STROKE ADVANTAGE IN LUBBOCK

LUBBOCK, Texas β€” Wyndham Clark of Greenwood Village, Colo., shot 4-under-par 68 to give him a two-shot lead Wednesday in the Junior All-Star at Lubbock hosted by Randy Smith. Tiffany Lim of San Jose, Calif., was able to protect her lead going into the final round, leading by ten strokes.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Junior All-Star at Lubbock hosted by Randy Smith is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech University. The tournament field consists of 88 boys and 21 girls, ages 12 to 15, from 20 states and Mexico. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,817 yards, while the Girls Division is playing the course at 5,859 yards.

Clark carded another sub-par round today. After an eagle on No. 17, Clark stood the No. 18 fairway waiting for the green to clear for his second shot. He powered his 5-iron 198 yards over water towards the narrow green. The ball made a deep slapping sound as it struck the flag and fell, rolling just a few feet away and into a greenside bunker. After a nice bunker shot, he made his putt for birdie, taking the lead with a second-round total of 6-under-par 70-68β€”138.

β€œTomorrow if I'm in the same position I'm hitting a 6-iron, seriously,” Clark said. β€œI just have to play like I did today and yesterday, protect par [to win].”

Tied in second sitting at 4-under-par 70-70β€”140 are Connor Kurtz of Edmond, Okla., and Kraig Mcleod of Pebble Beach, Calif. Followed by Charlie Saxon of Tulsa, Okla., in fourth at 3-under-par 71-70β€”141. In a three-way tie for fifth are Tyler Thomas of Beaumont, Texas, Jake Katz of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Simon Miller of Albuquerque, N.M., at a two-day total 2-under-par 142.

In the Girls Division, Lim played smart to overcome tough hole locations. She carded 14 pars and two birdies and she now holds a 10-stroke lead after rounds of 68-72β€”140. In only the third AJGA event of her career, with a win tomorrow Lim would make it her third top-10 finish as well.

β€œI'm not worried about winning,” 14-year-old Lim said. β€œI just want to shoot at least 2-under and play my own game, not worry about anyone else.”

Caught in a tie for second at 6-over-par 150 are Dana Finkelstein of Chandler, Ariz., and Lily Bartell of Cave Creek, Ariz.
