PECK COMES BACK TO WIN HP BOYS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Victory is Peck's third win of the 2008 season

ORLANDO, Fla. — Cameron Peck of Olympia, Wash., birdied three of his final four holes on his way to a final-round 3-under-par 69 Friday and a victory at the HP Boys Junior Championship. His tournament-total 4-under-par 284 gave him his second AJGA Invitational victory of 2008 by one shot. Third-round leader Christopher Walker of The Woodlands, Texas, finished in second place with a four-day total of 3-under-par 285.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the HP Boys Junior Championship was a 72-hole stroke play event held at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge. The tournament field consisted of 78 boys, ages 12-18, from 24 states and four foreign countries. The field played the par-72 course, home of the PGA TOUR's Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, at 7,277 yards.

Peck, who started the day tied for second place, emerged out of the pack of eight boys who were within eight shots of the lead after the third round. Peck and Walker were paired together and stayed close for the majority of the round until Peck began to pull away on the last four holes.

“Chris and I were just back and forth, battling all day,” Peck said. “And then we saw [Austin] Cody was catching up to us and that's when I started to get going.”

Peck, who claimed the FootJoy Invitational title in June, is the first boy to win two AJGA Invitationals in one year since Andrew Yun in 2006. He had four of his five birdies over his last nine holes, including three in a row on Nos. 15-17, on his way to shooting 3-under-par on the back nine.

“I knew I had a one-shot lead going into No. 17 and I thought to myself ‘OK just go par-par and stay steady',” Peck said. “But then I hit [my tee shot] to about 10 feet and thought ‘Alright, a two-shot lead would be much nicer; and then I nailed [the putt]'.”

Austin Cody of North Charleston, S.C., finished in third place with a total of 2-under-par 286. Michael Jae Woo Im of Irvine, Calif., and Jeffrey Kang of Fullerton, Calif., both carded low final rounds of 4-under-par 68 to finish tied for fourth at 1-under-par 287.
