FIRST ROUND OF THE ALDILA JUNIOR AT OAK TREE SUSPENDED
Tournament to resume play Wednesday morning
EDMOND, Okla. — Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forced the American Junior Golf Association Tournament Committee to suspend the first round of the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree, Tuesday. Play began after a six and a half hour rain delay.
Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Aldila Junior at Oak Tree is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at Oak Tree Country Club — East Course. The tournament field features 102 boys and 42 girls, ages 12-18, from 13 states and Brazil. The Boys Division is playing the par-70 course at 7,014 yards, while the Girls Division is playing the course at 5,649 yards.
The remainder of the first round will resume Wednesday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. The second round will follow tomorrow at a time to be determined. AJGA Tournament Director Greg Sanfilippo is dedicated to playing as much golf as needed to make up for the time lost during Tuesday morning's rain delay and eventual suspension in the afternoon.
“The safety of our members is the No. 1 concern for us,” Sanfilippo said. “We played as many holes as possible today. The goal now is to have the first and second rounds completed by Wednesday evening.”
