AJGA QUALIFER CANCELLED AT WINDSTONE GOLF CLUB
Performance Based Entry Fills Out Ringgold Telephone Company Junior Classic Field
RINGGOLD, Ga. â€” Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forced the American Junior Golf Association Tournament Committee to cancel the AJGA Qualifier for the Ringgold Telephone Company Junior Classic Sunday. Eleven boys and three girls were selected via Performance Based Entry to compete in the tournament June 2-5 at WindStone Golf Club.
â€śIt was unfortunate weather did not cooperate for our qualifier today,â€ť said AJGA Tournament Director Preston Etheridge. â€śOur number one priority is the safety of our members, while doing all we can to play golf. We're hoping it clears up and are looking forward to a great week here in Ringgold.â€ť
Qualifying in the Boys Division were Jack Adkins of Martinsville, Va., Will England of Gainesville, Ga., Charlie Harrison of Atlanta, Hunter Keener of Dalton, Ga., Nathan Kerns of Ironton, Ohio, James Olley of Woodstock, Ga., Brett Patterson of McMinnville, Tenn., Brad Sill of Duncan, S.C., Walker Sullivan of Atlanta, Jack Walsh of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Nicklaus Ward of Fayetteville, Ga.
The qualifiers in the Girls Division consisted of Shelby Gilbert of Hixson, Tenn., Amelia Hill of Saint Simons Island, Ga., and Taylor Manning of Brentwood, Tenn.
All other participants who did not withdraw prior to the cancellation of the AJGA Qualifier received a $25 refund and one performance star.
First-, second-, and final-round tee times for the Ringgold Telephone Company Junior Classic will run from 7:30 a.m.-12:18 p.m., June 3-5, off the No. 1 tee at the WindStone Golf Club.
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
