KIM, LEE LEAD BY THREE AT I.R.I./SRIXON MIXED TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP HOSTED BY JIM FURYK
Team Eagle Eagle posts two-round 15-under-par 127 at Arizona National Golf Club

TUCSON, Ariz.-Chun-Ji Kim of Chandler, Ariz., and Erynne Lee of Silverdale, Wash., posted a 36-hole total of 65-62-127 to finish 15-under-par heading into Sunday's final round of the I.R.I./Srixon Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk at Arizona National Golf Club. The team sunk 16 birdies during two unique team formats to hold a three-shot lead over team Wildcats made up of Kenji Hernandez of Mexico City, Mexico, and Margarita Ramos of Paradise Valley, Ariz., who will both be attending the University of Arizona in the fall.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the I.R.I./Srixon Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk is a 54-hole stroke play event at Arizona National Golf Club. During the event, the teams, consisting of one boy and one girl, will compete in three different formats-modified scotch, scramble and four-ball. The tournament field consists of 36 teams with players ages 12-18, from 15 states and Mexico. The par-71 course is being played at 6,635 yards for the Boys Division and 5,932 for the Girls Division.

In the first round, the twosome nicknamed Eagle Eagle, sunk seven birdies including on the par-5 Nos. 5, 11 and 18. Kim and Lee then went on to finish the first round with a two-stroke lead at 6-under-par 65 after playing a modified-scotch format. In the second round, the team posted nine birdies and no bogeys while playing in a scramble format. Lee, who is currently ranked No. 14 in the Polo Golf Rankings, sunk a 35-foot putt on the par-3 No. 6 to keep the team at 3-under-par for the round. The duo then posted an additional six birdies en route to their three-shot lead.

"The scramble was an easier format," Lee said. "We had more quality shots during this round, but during the first round, we putted really well."

The 17-year-old Kim's previous highest finish was 11th at the Golf World West Coast Championship in 2007. The 15-year-old Lee won the Kathy Whitworth Invitational Junior Girls Championship earlier this year and finished runner-up at this year's AJGA Championship at Traditions. This is the pair's second appearance at the I.R.I./Srixon Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk.

Three shots behind Kim and Lee is team Wildcats with a two-round total of 67-63-130. Tied for third place are team Firestorm, made up of Ben Itterman of Carlsbad, Calif., and Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., and team SDG, made up of Shayne Yoon and Kyung Kim, both of Chandler, Ariz., at 11-under-par 131. Team American Eagles, made up of Andrew Perez of Oxnard, Calif., and Ani Gulugian of Irvine, Calif., are in fifth with a two round total of 71-61-132.
