Briere said he came into the qualifier with the same game plan as usual hit fairways and greens. He also said that although he had a bad start to his round, being 3-over-par after the first four holes, he gained momentum by sinking six birdies by the end of his round. His birdies fell on Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5, 12 and 17 giving him a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine and a 1-under-par on the back nine.
I'm pretty excited to win this especially with the start I had, Briere said. I finished strong which was nice.

In the Girls Division, Cheung said her long chip for eagle on No. 4 gave her a boost of confidence for the rest of her round. She followed it with birdies on Nos. 7 and 14 to give her a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine and a 1-over-par 36 on the back nine.
I just tried to stay focused and relaxed and not panic when I hit a bad shot, Cheung said. At the tournament I'll focus on the tee and my swing and what's ahead.
