MALVERN, Pa.- After the second round of the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship, Vicky Hurst of Melbourne, Fla., shot a competitive course record by knocking down a 4-under-par 67 at White Manor Country Club. Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship is a 54-hole stroke play event held at White Manor Country Club. Hurst, who won the Birks & Mayors Junior Championship at Mirasol earlier this season, said her plan to win her first Invitational is to eliminate bogeys, play a steady round and make putts.
‚ÄúNot much is going to change tomorrow,‚ÄĚ Hurst said. ‚ÄúThis year, I'm trying to keep my head there.‚ÄĚ
Hurst also said she enjoys the camaraderie of an all-girl tournament such as this one.
‚ÄúSome of these girls are my best friends,‚ÄĚ Hurst said. ‚ÄúI love coming in the summertime and getting back together with them.‚ÄĚ
Coming in second place is Kwon who carded a 3-under-par 139 tournament total. Allie White tied the competitive course record by shooting a 4-under-par 67 leaving her alone in third with a 1-under-par 141 tournament total.
