GRIBBLE GRABS SEVEN-SHOT LEAD HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT TPC CRAIG RANCH
Grehan fires second-round 71 in wind to take over lead at Wellstone Communities Junior at Craig Ranch

McKINNEY, Texas β€” Rolex Junior All-American Cody Gribble of Dallas carded a tournament total of 6-under-par 138 after the 36-hole opening day of the Wellstone Communities Junior at Craig Ranch to seize a substantial seven-stroke cushion in the Boys Division amid extremely windy conditions going into Sunday's final round. In the Girls Division, Rolex Junior All-American Megan Grehan of Mamaroneck, N.Y., posted a two-round total of 2-over-par 146 to snatch a one-shot advantage at TPC Craig Ranch.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Wellstone Communities Junior at Craig Ranch is a 54-hole stroke play event held at TPC Craig Ranch. The 72-player field features players from 15 states, Australia and Canada. The Girls Division is playing TPC Craig Ranch at 6,076 yards, while the Boys Division is playing it at 7,000 yards.

Gribble, who fired rounds of 2-under-par 70 and 4-under-par 68, was able to keep his momentum going throughout the day with an eagle on the par-5, No.12 during both rounds.

β€œI was hitting a lot of 3-irons and hybrids, so I was just trying to save par and make birdies when I could,” said Gribble. β€œThose eagles on No. 12 really kept me going. Tomorrow I just want to go out and play my game. I've been there before; I just have to close the door.”

Bryan Harris of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Patrick Reed of Baton Rouge, La., are tied for second in the Boys Division with matching 1-over-par 144 tournament totals. Austyn Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Josh Jones of The Colony, Texas, are knotted in fourth place at 147.

In the Girls Division, Grehan carded a 1-under-par 71 in the afternoon to leap into the lead by one stroke following a first-round 3-over-par 75.

β€œI was more consistent this afternoon and I didn't make any dumb mistakes,” said Grehan. β€œI hit more greens and chipped better and it showed. It's been a while, so I'm excited (to have the lead).”

Diane Kwon of Fremont, Calif., is one stroke back in the Girls Division at 147 and Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii, is in the third spot at 148.
