RAH WINS GIRLS DIVISION BY FIVE STROKES
Hyun Seok Lim makes come-from-behind surge to win CORE Realty Holdings Junior Championship

SAN RAMON, Calif. β€” Rolex Junior All-American Jane Rah of Torrance, Calif., won the Girls Division of the CORE Realty Holdings Junior Championship by five strokes, carding a two-day total of 143. Hyun Seok Lim of Fullerton, Calif., made a come-from-behind surge to win the Boys Division with five-under-par 139.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the CORE Realty Holdings Junior Championship was held at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, Calif. The par-72 course was set up at 6659 yards for the Boys Division and 5955 for the Girls. The tournament field consisted of 59 boys and 24 girls from 10 states and Canada. There were 60 residents from the state of California.

Rah shot even-par 72 Saturday, followed by a one-under-par 71 Sunday to win the event. While hitting 12 fairways and 13 greens, she carded three birdies on the final day of competition. Rah, playing in her second AJGA event of the year, was a member of both the West Canon Cup team and the U.S. PING Junior Solheim Cup team in 2005.

β€œI feel good because I overcame this golf course,” said Rah after winning her second AJGA event. β€œWhen I was practicing, I knew it was going to be a difficult tournament. I just had to play steady and everything would work out.”

After finishing the first round tied for fifth, Lizette Salas of Azusa, Calif., shot a final-round 72 to place second in the event at 148. First-round leader Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., finished third, shooting a two-day 152.

In the Boys Division, Hyun Seok Lim began the final round of the tournament in a seven-way tie for fourth. Opening the day with a birdie on No. 1, Lim powered his way to a 33 on the front, followed by a matching 33 on the back. Lim carded eight birdies during the final round, making four in a row on Nos. 10-13 following his bogey on No. 9. Lim attributes his birdies to his fantastic putting.

β€œI putted so well today,” said Lim. β€œI was shocked at myself. I only had 24 putts.”

First round co-leader Connor Driscoll of Encinitas, Calif., tied for second with Christopher Cho of Kent, Wash., at 141 as Colby Smith of Auburn, Calif., and Phillip Francis of Scottsdale, Ariz., tied for fourth at 145.
