FOUR SHARE MEDALIST HONORS IN BOYS DIVISION
Park tops Girls Division in Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA, Calif. — Brendan Wong of Orange, Calif., David Zeuske of Coto de Caza, Calif., Bryan Pierce of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Jiweon Seo of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., all shot 2-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors in the Srixon Qualifier Series. In the Girls Division, Michelle Park of Los Angeles, Calif., shot a 6-over-par 78 to medal in Monday's Qualifier.

The Srixon Qualifier Series, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, was held at the Black Gold Golf Club. Fourteen boys and five girls qualified for the 84-player event that begins on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Black Gold Golf Club.

The boys all agreed that the course was playing difficult on Monday.

“The back nine was tough,” said Zueske. “There was a lot more to deal with than on the front.”

Others who qualified and will compete in the championship beginning Tuesday include: Alex Shi Yup Kim of Fullerton, Calif., Paul Hanzal of San Diego, Blake Shinoda of Santa Ana, Calif., Andrew Augustyniak of Tempe, Ariz., Peter Singh of Hollister, Calif., Ian Dahl of Longview, Wash., Lawrence Hsu of West Covina, Calif., Bryan Taylor of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Satchel Hermann of Ventura, Calif., Kevin Fitzgerald of Riverside, Calif., and John Lim of Torrance, Calif.

Pierce will take advantage of the AJGA's Opt Out Policy. This allows him the opportunity to add one tournament exemption to his AJGA performance based entry status, instead of playing in the Hanmi Bank Junior Open this week. Others who qualified but also decided to use the Opt Out Policy include: Justin Spray of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alex Kang of Oak Park, Calif., Trevor Carle of Santa Rosa, Calif., Zack Witkin of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Michael Liu of Tustin, Calif.

In the Girls Division, 13-year-old Park's short game helped her qualify.

“It was tough to hit the fairways,” said Park. “I thought I played good enough to qualify, but I didn't think I would medal.”

The remaining girls spots for the championship were earned by Katherine Suarez of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Natalie Draganza of Costa Mesa, Calif., Kylie Fuller of Temecula, Calif., and Robin Lee of Camarillo, Calif. Stevy Loy of Valencia, Calif., also earned an exemption but opted out of Tuesday's tournament.
