CRAWFORD TAKES ONE SHOT LEAD INTO FINAL ROUND
Stanley still leads Boys Division after two rounds

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Laura Crawford of Lancaster, S.C., climbed to the lead after shooting an even-par 72 for a 74-72—146, and takes a 1-stroke lead heading into the final round.  Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., tops the leaderboard of the Boys Division after the second round of the Hargray Junior Classic with a 71-72—143.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Hargray Junior Classic features 85 players, 63 boys and 22 girls, ages 12-18 from 17 states.  The 54-hole stroke play event is being held at the Palmetto Hall Plantation’s Robert Cupp Course for the first time.

Crawford’s impressive round was highlighted by three birdies and three bogeys to bring her to even par on the day.  Consistency was the key to the Wake Forest signee’s rise to the lead with one day to play.

“I’ve never had the lead entering the last round,” Crawford said about her current position. “I just have to get out there and focus on my own game and not get caught up in playing the other girls.  I just have to play the course.”

Sitting only one shot behind Crawford is first-round leader Jacqui Concolino of Orlando, Fla., at 147.

“I was disappointed in my game today.  I missed out on some good birdie opportunities at the very end that would have put me where I wanted to be,” Concolino said. “I’m going into tomorrow with the goal of coming out of the tournament at even par.”

Following closely behind the leaders are Kristin Wetzel of Middletown, N.Y., with a tournament total of 74-75—149, and Cydney Clanton of Concord, N.C., at 75-75—150.

Boys Division leader Kyle Stanley holds a slim one stroke lead on the field going into Friday’s final round.  Like Crawford, the Washington native completed his second round with three birdies and three bogeys to finish at even par for the round.

One stroke back of Stanley at even-par 72-72—144 is Benjamin Kishigian of Warner Robins, Ga.

“I just want to go into tomorrow with the plan of controlling the golf ball the best that I can,” Kishigian said.  “Whatever happens with my game, happens.”

Also on the Boys Division leaderboard after the second round is Cameron Knight of Dade City, Fla., at 74-71—145.  Currently with a tournament total of 147 are Billy Horschel of Grant, Fla., Josh Brock of Wilmington, N.C., and Daniel Burns of Statesville, N.C.
