Bridgestone Golf to sponsor Brandt Snedeker AJGA event

For years alum Brandt Snedeker has looked to bring an event to his hometown, Nashville, Tenn. The Bridgestone Golf/Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior will be held June 24-27, at Richland Country Club.
Bridgestone Golf, as part of a long-standing commitment to community involvement, will support an American Junior Golf Association event in the southeast with Brandt Snedeker, Bridgestone Tour Player and Nashville native.

The Bridgestone Golf / Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior, June 24-27, will be held at Richland Country Club in Nashville, Tenn. The 54-hole stroke play event will feature 96 of the nation’s top male and female junior golfers, ages 12-18.

The AJGA first held an event at Richland Country Club in 2012. Last year’s event featured 29 players from Tennessee, including both champions, Ben Reeves and Sophia Schubert.

Bridgestone, which has been a dedicated AJGA partner over the years, introduced the Bridgestone Award in 2011. The award is given each AJGA tournament to the player, or players, in both Divisions who record the lowest score during the opening round.

“Bridgestone Golf is looking forward to its partnership with the AJGA as title sponsor of this year’s Bridgestone Golf / Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior,” said Todd Corum, Bridgestone Developmental Tours Representative. “It's an exciting opportunity to reach and promote the future of golf and help provide the young men and women of the southeast a chance to showcase their talents on a national level."

Brandt Snedeker, AJGA alum and current PGA TOUR professional, is devoted to giving back to the community, and along with various children’s charities he supports, he believes in the importance of giving back to junior golf.  Snedeker posted three top-20 AJGA finishes and received Rolex Junior All-America honorable mention honors in 1998. Snedeker went on to attend Vanderbilt University where he was named SEC Male Golfer of the Year during his senior season.  Snedeker was named PGA TOUR “Rookie of the Year” in 2007 and won the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in 2012.

“Playing with the AJGA, you really get a sense of what professional golf is going to be like. It was a lot of fun and I look back on those days with a lot of good memories,” Snedeker said. “I’m looking forward to helping bring an AJGA event to my hometown, and the city where I played college golf.”
